New to the Center?
Everything you need to take a first step.
What to expect
We're a community of practitioners across several Buddhist traditions and secular mindfulness. There's no required belief, no membership, and no fee to attend regular sittings. Wear what's comfortable. Arrive a few minutes early to settle in.
Coming for the first time
The Newcomer Orientation on the first Tuesday of each month is the gentlest entry point. You can also drop into any Noon Sit (weekdays 12:00–1:00 PM) or join any sangha — you don't need to commit to one tradition.
What to bring
Nothing required. Cushions and chairs are provided. If you have a favorite meditation cushion, you're welcome to bring it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be Buddhist?+
No. Many people who practice here don't identify as Buddhist. Our MindSpace group is explicitly secular. Other sanghas use traditional Buddhist forms but are open to anyone.
How much does it cost?+
Our regular sittings are free. Special programs and retreats may suggest a dana (generosity) contribution. The center is supported entirely by donations.
What's dana?+
Dana is the Pali word for generosity. Most teachings in our traditions are offered freely, with the understanding that those who benefit support the practice for others. Give what you can.
What if I've never meditated before?+
Most sanghas include some guided practice and time for questions. Come early to the Newcomer Orientation for a focused introduction.
Can I join by Zoom?+
Yes. Most sittings are hybrid. Each event page lists the format and Zoom link.
